The American automaker has introduced the 2020 Cadillac XT5 with some tweaks on the exterior and a new powertrain. While we were hoping the new 4.2L twin-turbocharged V8, Cadillac added a 2.0-liter inline-4, which is also available in the XT4. The engine will power the base variant and would send 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque to the wheels. The 3.6L V6, which is available as the base engine in 2019 XT5, will now be optional. Both the engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 will be available in four grades here, ‘Standard,’ ‘Luxury,’ ‘Premium Luxury’ and ‘Platinum’ (‘Sport’ in the U.S.). The 3.6L engine comes standard in the Platinum variant and is good for 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Other standard features on the Platinum model include unique exterior kit, 20-inch wheels and tires, an all-wheel-drive system, model-specific transmission calibrations, and a faster steering ratio.
The updated exterior comprises of a new grille design and updated front and rear fascias to make the XT5 look similar to its counterparts, XT4 and XT6. Inside, we get a new infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and a console-mounted rotary controller, in addition to updated gauge cluster and a modified center console. Moreover, the new Cadillac XT5 makes your journeys enjoyable and safe by offering you heated front seats, LED headlights, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic front braking with pedestrian detection, and the Cadillacs safety alert driver’s seat to warn drivers of any arising safety issues.
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 costs $45,090 (including destination), which is $2,400 extra than the 2019 XT5. Expect it to reach dealerships by the end of summer in the U.S. markets. Hopefully, it will reach the GCC countries before the end of this year.
