GM President Mark Reuss has revealed the new, mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in an event in Southern California, costing buyers less than $60K. Regarding price, he said, “The Corvette has always been about value.” Comparing it to other mid-engined sports cars from Acura, McLaren, Ferrari, the new Stingray certainly is an affordable deal.
The C8 will be carrying a new 6.2L V8 placed in the middle, for the first time, producing 450 horsepower. The power goes to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The automaker says it can hit 96.5 km/h in under 3.0 seconds, which is a phenomenal figure.
Although the new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is available to configure online, Chevrolet has not provided pricing details of different variants and packages. However, we do know that it will be available in three trim levels, namely 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. Furthermore, we confirm that the optional Z51 Performance Package takes the power output to 495 hp.
The new Corvette Stingray is being built at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant and will reportedly reach dealerships in the U.S. before the end of the year.
Just for reference, the 2019 Corvette Coupe starts at AED 400,000 in the UAE.
