If you are a Porsche owner or fan, you would definitely know about the ‘T’ moniker. You would also understand that it is a more enhanced variant available for only two models in the Porsche line up i.e. the 718 and 911. Now the company has offered the T trim level first time for one of its SUVs. Yes, you have guessed it right! Porsche presents a new Touring variant for the 2022 Macan.
Conventionally, Porsche slots the Touring variant between the entry-level and mid-level trim levels in the lineup, spicing up the recipe without touching the extreme ends of the facilities. For the 2022 Porsche Macan T, the story remains the same, as it fills the gap between the entry-level and the S variants.
The power source is the same as you get in the standard Macan i.e. a 261-horsepower (195-kilowatt) turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, powering all the wheels via a seven-speed PDK transmission.
However, the Macan T has something extra to offer in the shape of the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Active Suspension Management. The electric equipment includes the adaptive air suspension that has tougher sway bars and the modified Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus.
With the changes made for the Macan T, expect it to hit 96 km/h (60 mph) in 5.8 seconds, and top out at 232 km/h (144 mph). The 0 to 96 time is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Macan.
Unsurprisingly, Porsche has made visual tweaks both on the exterior and in the interior to make the Macan T stand out in the range. The most obvious of which is gray embellishments for the side mirrors, roof spoiler, grille surrounds, and side rockers. The grey can also be seen on the emblem and to add a touch of contrast, Porsche has used black trim around the windows and exhaust tips.
The 2022 Macan T sports 20-inch wheels and eight-way heated sport seats with a T emblem, both are similar to what we find in the Macan S. Things that are standard in other models like
sport steering wheel, the Sport Chrono stopwatch in the dash are also part of the package. The Macan T labelling can also be found in the door sills.
The Macan’s sales in the US are not bad with 24,716 units displaced last year. The new Macan T will certainly add more depth to the lineup giving buyers another option. However, a lot will rely on its pricing, which the company isn’t ready to disclose. We might have it in spring when Porsche is ready to take orders.
For reference, we can tell that the standard Macan starts at AED 235,000 while the Macan S goes for AED 269,000 in the UAE. For the US markets, the prices are $54,900 and $65,400 respectively. Since the Macan T sits between these two variants, the price will certainly lie in the middle of these.
