2023 Nissan Altima Comes With Minor Design Changes, More Tech

Nissan has refreshed the Altima sedan for the 2023 model year giving it an updated look and more tech. The 2023 Nissan Altima will hit the roads this fall, giving buyers a choice of five trim levels.

Exterior

Accessible in S, SV, SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo models, the new Altima ditches the chrome V-shaped part for a waterfall-like styling that narrows inwards as it goes down. We see Nissan’s new emblem in the centre while the headlights look pretty much the same as previous. However, the lamps inside have a different layout.

Other than that, we find a few other small tweaks in the design as well. The SV model has a new 17-inch wheel pattern, while the SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo models come equipped with updated 19-inch wheels.

The pictures here are of the SR model which features a black chrome grille with LED headlights. The 2023 Altima gets two new exterior shades i.e. Gray Sky Pearl and Garnett Pearl Metallic. The other colour choices include Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Pearl White TriCoat, Glacier White, and Deep Blue Pearl.

Interior

Similar to tweaks on the outside, Nissan didn’t change much inside. The biggest visible change is the 12.3-inch infotainment display, which swaps the old 8.0-inch screen on the SL and SR VC-Turbo trim levels. It will be optional for the SV grade. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and users can use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot. The wireless charging facility is also a part of the standard package.

Other changes in the interior comprise a new polish for the instrument panel and dual-stitch interior fabric for the SR.

Safety

Regardless of the grade, all models now have Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite. The sedan ensures maximum driver assistance through automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning, radar-based blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and high beam assist.

Powertrain

The Altima doesn’t change its recipe for the power. It means the new model comes with the old engine choices – a naturally aspirated and a turbo. The more powerful turbocharged 2.0-litre variable compression mill is good for 248 horsepower (185 kilowatts) and 273 pound-feet (370 Newton-meters) of torque.

On the other hand, we have a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder pumping out 188 hp (140 kW) and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm) available in the variants with FWD. The power output decreases to 182 hp (136 kW) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) for all-wheel-drive models (SV, SR, and SL). Both the mills pair with a continuously variable transmission developed by Nissan.

Price and Availability

Nissan will start deliveries of the 2023 Altima before the end of this year in most parts of the world. The pricing information will be available closer to the launch. For reference, we can tell the 2022 Altima starts at AED 94,900 and goes as high as AED 127,500.
