Porsche has unveiled the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, showcasing the latest design elements from the SUV’s recent update. This iteration stands as Porsche’s most formidable Cayenne model yet, taking the reins from the previous Turbo edition.
Beneath the hood of Porsche’s fresh release, available in both SUV and Coupe configurations, lies the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 powerplant. With an output of 591 horsepower, this engine partners with a 174-hp electric motor, culminating in a combined system performance of 729 hp and 700 pound-feet of torque. Porsche’s declared acceleration figure for the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is 3.5 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph sprint, with a top speed of 183 mph.
The new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid boasts an enhanced 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack, positioned beneath the cargo area. Porsche highlights an updated 11-kilowatt on-board charger that, when coupled with an appropriate power source, can slash the battery’s charging duration to under 2.5 hours. While additional improvements have extended the battery’s electric range, specific figures remain undisclosed for now.
Porsche’s standard adaptive air suspension, a hallmark of their high-performance SUVs, takes the reins on ride quality. The technology’s two-chamber, two-valve setup allows for adaptable compression and rebound settings, granting Porsche the ability to widen the performance gap between the Comfort and Sport Plus modes. Standard Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is joined by optional features like Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and rear-axle steering.
Distinctive Aesthetics
The Turbo E-Hybrid makes a visual statement with its distinctive front fascia, accentuating its larger air intakes. Porsche extends the body colour to the wheel arches and lower rear fascia. The package includes red brake calipers and twin dual exhaust tips, rounding out the E-Hybrid’s visual enhancements. Standardizing the package are HD-Matrix Design LED headlights.
Inside the cabin, the SUV makes an impression with its Race-Tex headliner, heated GT Sport steering wheel, aluminum door and dash inlays, and 18-way adjustable leather Sport seats. Alternatively, you can opt for fourteen-way adjustable Comfort seats.
Porsche has also introduced a novel 15-watt air-conditioned wireless charging pad. The SUV inherits the enhancements seen across the 2024 Cayenne lineup update, sporting a revised dashboard housing a 12.6-inch curved driver’s display and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
Price and Availability
According to Porsche’s announcement, the Turbo E-Hybrid is presently open for orders and is anticipated to start arriving at dealerships in the second quarter of 2024. The base price stands at $148,550 (inclusive of the $1,650 destination charge). Meanwhile, the E-Hybrid Coupe carries a slightly higher starting price of $153,000.
For those seeking a more accessible entry point, the base Cayenne retains its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, delivering 348 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, all at a much lower starting price of $80,850. Still, the Turbo E-Hybrid emerges as a more budget-friendly alternative compared to the $197,950 Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT, which wields an impressive 650 hp.
