In December 2022, Toyota gave a sneak peek of the next iteration of the C-HR with the unveiling of the Prologue concept. Now, the moment has arrived to introduce the long-awaited production model. With its fresh design, the new C-HR maintains the distinctive charm that made its predecessor a hit in the competitive small crossover market. This updated version was meticulously crafted and engineered in Europe, where it will also be produced.

Exterior
According to reports, the upcoming 2024 C-HR showcases a sleek and stylish appearance with its “super coupe” profile, accompanied by 20-inch wheels and a captivating two-tone paint job. Toyota has gone above and beyond to enhance the overall aesthetic by minimizing visible gaps and seamlessly integrating advanced features such as cameras, sensors, and headlight washers. These efforts result in a more polished and streamlined design, contributing to improved aerodynamics. In terms of size, the latest model measures approximately 4360 millimetres (171.6 inches) in length, 1830 mm (72 in) in width, and stands at either 1558 mm (61.3 in) or 1564 mm (61.5 in) tall, depending on the specific version.
Interior
Enter the cabin, and you’ll find a spacious interior, complete with a 2640 mm (104 in) wheelbase. The dashboard features a modern 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, accompanied by a touchscreen of equal size. Higher-end models offer additional features such as a head-up display, customizable 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic roof, and an impressive JBL sound system. In contrast to some competitors, Toyota remains committed to incorporating physical buttons for frequently used functions, despite the trend of increasingly larger screens in each new car generation. A striking red accenting and a GR badge distinguish the GR Sport Premiere Edition, which boasts sporty elements both inside and outside the vehicle.
Powertrain
As anticipated, the upcoming C-HR model will be offered exclusively with hybrid power for the European market. The front-wheel-drive configuration is available with both a 1.8-litre engine and a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid system. Additionally, the 2.0-litre hybrid variant can be optionally equipped with all-wheel drive. Power-wise, the base 1.8-litre engine delivers a combined output of 140 horsepower (103 kilowatts), followed by the 2.0-litre setup with 198 horsepower (145 kilowatts), and the plug-in hybrid with 223 horsepower (164 kilowatts).
Performance
When it comes to performance, the base model featuring a 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). The front-wheel-drive version with a 2.0-litre engine achieves the sprint in 8.1 seconds, or 7.9 seconds if you opt for the all-wheel-drive model. Both these 2.0-litre hybrid variants can reach a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). As for the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), it completes the acceleration in 7.4 seconds and has a maximum speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). When fully charged, you’ll have an electric range of 41 miles (66 kilometres).
Toyota has recently begun accepting online bookings in Europe for their GR Sport Premiere Edition, which we mentioned earlier. Additionally, they are introducing a High Premiere Edition, equipped with exclusive features commonly found in upscale variants. It’s worth noting that while the initial model was available for purchase in the United States, its successor will not be offered in that region.
Pricing details are not available yet but we can tell the 2023 C-HR starts at AED 92900 in the UAE.
