Although the 2018 Q5 comes with a hybrid powertrain, from the next year, the brand is planning to introduce 2019 Audi Q5 e-Tron featuring the next-generation plug-in hybrid system. The revolutionary system will render 20 to 30 percent more range than the present Q3 or Q7 e-Tron models available in some countries. Talking about the standard Q5, the plug-in hybrid will improve the range by 40 miles.

After introducing the 2019 Audi Q5 e-Tron, the automaker will bring Q3 e-Tron to the market. However, we will see the A6 e-Tron plug-in hybrid before these two.

The Q5 e-tron will be powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 assisted by an electric motor installed at the rear wheels. The combustion engine will give life to the front wheels while the rear wheels will get power from the electric motor. Both the engine and the electric motor will produce around 296 horsepower and a huge 457 pound-feet of torque.

Audi will not be making any modifications on the exterior, so expect the standard Q5 and e-Tron version look the same. However, the Q5 e-Tron will be based on the recently released Audi e-Tron.

The basic Q5 starts at AED 183,900, so the plug-in hybrid version will be a little costlier.
