One of Honda’s bestselling vehicles in the United States has just got better. The 2020 Honda CR-V will not only come with ‘Made in America’ label but will also offer a hybrid version for the environment-conscious and fuel-saving individuals.
The automaker has updated the styling and features in the mid-cycle refresh to appeal to new customers. On the exterior, we see darker chrome and light lenses and elegantly integrated fog lights. The ‘Hybrid’ model has a blue Honda shield for distinction.
On the inside, the 2020 Honda CR-V features a unique push-button gear selector with drive mode buttons (ECO, Sport, and EV). Moreover, the hybrid SUV model comes equipped with a new digital instrument display offering information regarding the vehicle’s power/charge level, a pair of paddle shifters, and an expertly designed center console bin.
The center console bin “is now easier to use and offers more flexible storage options.” Also, the standard features on the CR-V Touring trim include wireless charging surface and a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The optional facilities comprise of remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, rear USB charging ports, and front passenger heated seats with power adjustments.
The 2020 Honda CR-V hybrid boasts two electric motors that assist the 2.0L, four-cylinder engine to create the power of 212 horses. The hybrid features Honda’s two-motor all-wheel-drive system. Honda has cleverly used the cargo floor to place the batteries and controls systems. For reference, the Accord Hybrid also uses the same powertrain.
Regarding fuel efficiency, which is a hallmark of any hybrid, we still did not get official estimates. However, the automaker says it will be 50% more efficient than the standard CR-V. Calculating the fuel efficiency on this expectation, the hybrid version will deliver 42 mpg in the city. If true, this will make the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid surpass the fuel efficiency rating of Toyota RAV4 Hybrid by one mpg.
On the other hand, the standard versions will carry a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine churning out 190 hp. The engine is paired with Continuously Variable Transmission. The All-Wheel-Drive is optional.
Honda did not reveal the pricing details yet; however, we do know that they will be a touch higher than the price of 2019 CR-V, which starts at AED 94,900. The hybrid version will definitely be more expensive. The standard models will hit the roads before the end of this year while the hybrid version may arrive at the start of 2020.
