Kia has replaced the Optima nameplate with the K5 in the US market and introduced a range of new technologies. The 2021 Kia K5 gets an array of all-turbo powertrains and optional all-wheel-drive along with eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Apart from the styling changes, the new 2021 Kia K5 comes with a choice of multiple all-turbo engines including a standard 1.6L inline-four producing 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts) and 264 newton-meters of torque, pairing with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The second mill is a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder good for 290 hp (216 kW) and 422 Nm of torque. Available for the K5 GT, the engine will mate to Kia’s-first eight-speed dual-wet-clutch transmission and take the car to 96 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

Inside it has a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto along with the Kia Drive Wise safety suite. It features forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assistance, and driver-attention warning. The available driver-assistance features comprise blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and lane centering assistance.

The 2021 Kia K5 will hit the dealerships in the US this summer. It will be available in four trim levels namely LX, LXS, GT-Line, and the EX. The pricing is unknown yet but our good guess is something around $24,500 for the base model. However, we expect the GT-Line will dig deep in your pockets with a starting price touching around $33,000.

For comparison, the 2020 Optima starts at AED 69,900 and goes over the six-figure mark.
