2021 Kia Picanto Introduced For Europe With New Engine and AMT

The 2021 Kia Picanto was introduced in its home market in May and now the automaker has released details of the European model. It will be available in Europe in the 3rd quarter of this year giving buyers two 1.0L engine options generating 67 and 100 horsepower. Moreover, the small hatchback will get a new Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) with clutch and gear shift actuators, which is an economical replacement of the conventional automatic transmission. The car will be available with a 7-year and 100,000-mile warranty.

In its home market, the Kia Picanto is known as Morning Urban now. It comes with slight changes on the front thanks to the new LED headlights and an athletic-looking bumper. The grille is also updated along with the covering of fog lamps. The updated rear includes new LED taillights, new horizontal reflectors, and a small diffuser. Other changes comprise of new 16-inch wheels and chrome trim for the doors.

On the dashboard, you will find a revised infotainment system with an 8-inch display and a 4.4-inch instrument cluster.

The only engine option for South Korean Picanto is a naturally aspirated 1.0L petrol creating 75 horsepower (56 kilowatts) and 95 Newton-meters of torque. The engine pairs with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

In South Korea, the 2021Kia Picanto starts at ₩11,950,000. The automaker didn’t reveal the price for the European markets. In the UAE, the outgoing model starts at AED 37,900.
