The Japanese automaker has introduced the 2021 Toyota Hilux featuring a new look, more torque, and improved comfort. The midsize pickup truck is now available in Thailand with deliveries starting this month.

Regarding changes, the 2021 Toyota Hilux has become brawnier thanks to the 2.8L diesel engine yielding 201 horsepower and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque, which is on tap at just 1,600 rpm. It is worth mentioning here that the availability of instant torque now allows the Hilux to compete against the big boys like the Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Trailblazer. On the other hand, the 2.4L diesel engine offers the same power output.

Furthermore, the automaker says they have decreased the pickup’s idling from 850 rpm to 680 rpm. It will improve traction and make it more fuel-efficient. Toyota has also enhanced its suspension along with shock absorbers and the leaf spring assembly.

The interior updates aren’t very exciting. It has the new 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, but safety tech is better now with Toyota Safety Sense (available in the top trim). It features the pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, and lane departure alert.

Toyota didn’t tell when they plan to unveil the 2021 Toyota Hilux in the Middle Eastern markets. Stay tuned for updates!
