2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Takes One Step Ahead of the Bolt EV

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV makes debut with a slightly bigger size using the same platform that underpins the newly introduced Bolt EV. Unfortunately, the EUV is not built on the Ultium platform; however, it does get the hands-free Super Cruise driver-assistance package. When it goes on sale, it will be the first GM’s EV to have it before the imminent GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq.

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV and its little sibling look almost the same. Both of these share design elements from the previous generations; however, some of the EUV’s cues are taken from the 2021 Blazer.

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is 169.5 long, making it six inches lengthier than the small hatchback. The longer length gives three inches more room at the rear; however, the cargo space doesn’t increase much. In fact, the cargo space is even a little less than the Bolt EV (16.3 vs 16.6).

Get inside the electric crossover, and we find more advanced and straightforward interior. Abandoning the futuristic approach, Chevy has streamlined the interior with other GM vehicles. You will see a standard 10.2-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as wireless smartphone charging.

Both the crossover and hatchback uses the same BEV2 platform as well as share the motor and battery. The EV crossover offers 250 miles of range using the 65.0-kWh battery pack, which is nine miles short of its little brother.

The front-wheel-drive Bolt EUV generates 200-hp and 266 pound-feet of torque. Like the Bolt EV, the crossover also offers standard DC fast-charging support of up to 55 kW.

Although the Bolt EUV does not support DC fast-charging up to 100.0 kW like its competitors (Kona and Niro), it has something that its rivals do not have. Yes, access to GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance package!

The Super Cruise will only be accessible for the Premier model, and customers have to pay an extra $2,200 for it. Along with the equipment, the customers will also get free three years of the OnStar subscription.

Suppose you are not keen to have the Super Cruise, no issue at all. You still have the standard Chevy Safety Assist package featuring driver-assistance features including lane-keeping assist, automated emergency braking, and forward-collision alert. You have to pay extra for adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV enters the crowded electric crossover market wearing a starting price tag of $33,995. Would it be successful or not, only the time will tell? The crossover EV will go on sale this summer.
