The 2022 Hyundai Palisade comes with an updated face and a new XRT model. The most prominent change in the new Palisade is the cascading grille, which was actually leaked by the automaker itself during its video Livestream earlier.
Exterior
It does not matter what you call this new grille, it certainly dominates the front fascia, featuring thin wings. Below the grille, we see a new lower fascia. Additionally, the Palisade borrowed vertically-positioned LED daytime running lights and headlight clusters from the old model. The design doesn’t incorporate Tucson-like lighting on the front.
Contrary to the split taillight design most of us anticipated, the new full-size SUV from Hyundai borrowed pretty much the same lights from its previous model. The lower fascia is also redesigned. Other changes include square exhaust finishers and new multi-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, etc.
Interior
The interior gives a new feel thanks to the updated dash and the steering wheel. While the idea is the same as the previous Palisade, the audio controls get a new place and the instrument panel is restyled to get a “more voluminous appearance”. Other salient features include a full-display digital rearview mirror, a new Ergo-motion seat for the driver, second-row passenger seats with wing-out headrests, seat ventilation, and so on.
Technology
On the technology front, the new 2022 Hyundai Palisade gets the updated variant of Bluelink connected services along with a 12-inch navigation, WiFi hotspot, updated USB-C ports, and Digital Key 2 Touch system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. A 15-watt wireless charging pad allows faster charging.
As expected, the Palisade is a safe SUV thanks to the standard rear side-impact airbags, forward collision avoidance, nav-based smart cruise, highway driving assist, reverse collision assist, and remote parking.
XRT Trim
To make the Palisade competitive in its segment, Hyundai now offers a more rugged model, named the XRT. It is the same model that the company offers for Santa Fe and Tucson. It is purely an appearance package with a dark theme and off-road style goodies. Going into details of the package, it adds 20-inch wheels with a dark finish, a dark grille, black roof rails, black leatherette seats, and a standard-issue power sunroof.
Powertrain
The power comes from the same engine, we find in the 2021 Palisade. It is a 3.8-litre V6 creating 291 horsepower (217 kilowatts) sending power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive is standard, while the all-wheel drive is optional.
Price and Availability
The pricing information is not out yet, but we came to know it will hit the dealerships in the U.S. this summer. The availability in the UAE isn’t confirmed yet.
