The all-new 2022 Infiniti QX55 debuts with a modern design that hints at the 2003 Infiniti FX. The crossover will hit the US and Canadian roads next spring. Pricing will be revealed closer to the market launch.
The FX-inspired styling includes raised, rounded portions along the edges. At the front, it has a big grille and a three-dimensional mesh design.
“We set the stage nearly 20 years ago with the FX, and the all-new Infiniti QX55 brings us back, close to the soul of our brand — and it propels us forward,” stated Infiniti Chairman Peyman Kargar.
The crossover will be accessible in eight shades including the Dynamic Sunstone Red, Slate Gray, Majestic White, Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow, Mineral Black, Black Obsidian, and Hermosa Blue.
The power comes from a variable-compression 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which mates to CVT to set all the wheels in motion. The mill generates 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) at 5,600 rpm and 280 pound-feet (380 Newton-meters) of torque at 4,400 rpm. In typical driving conditions, it runs totally as a front-wheel drive but engages the rear wheels when the system senses a slippery condition.
The interior of the 2022 Infiniti QX55 is equally stylish. It boasts a dual-touchscreen system containing an 8-inch upper display for infotainment and a 7-inch lower screen for different settings. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay while the Android Auto is manual. It means you have to plug the Android phone into the system. Moreover, occupants can benefit from three USB Type-A ports and one Type-C for device charging.
The rear passengers would benefit from extra comfort thanks to the sliding bench that they can move about six inches. The crossover offers 26.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which is enough for a small family.
Infiniti is offering the new QX55 in three variants namely Luxe, Essential, and Sensory. The standard facilities across the range include LED headlights, a power hatchback, a power-sliding tinted sunroof, and heated front seats. The range-topping Sensory model comes with a 16-speaker Bose stereo, a head-up display, maple open-pore wood trim, and semi-aniline leather upholstery in a Monaco Red and Graphite shade mix.
Once out, it will compete against the likes of BMW X4, Audi Q5 Sportback, and Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe.
Regarding the price, we believe it will be a little costlier than the QX50. It should be around $39,000. For reference, the 2020 QX50 starts at AED 171,000 and goes as high as AED 242,250.
We expect the 2022 Infiniti QX55 to be a smidge pricier than the QX50. As such, look for the QX55 to start right around the $39,000 mark when it hits dealerships in spring 2021.
