2022 Porsche Macan Comes With Subtle Tweaks, A Little Extra Power

The 2022 Porsche Macan has officially been revealed with not many shocks since we already knew some of its specs. The performance-oriented crossover comes with the exclusion of the Turbo model, but there is more power under the hood.

The range-topping Macan GTS uses the same twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 as was available in the Turbo but it now makes 434-horsepower (324-kilowatt). Fit the Sport Chrono Package and the crossover can zoom to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 169 mph. It’s basically a 2 mph bump over the Turbo. So, you can see the Macan didn’t get slower in the process of changing the trim.

In fact, all the variants of the 2022 Porsche Macan perform better than before. The entry-level Macan features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder generating 261 hp (195 kW) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters). The new Macan S transpires to the 2021 GTS, so it now pumps out 375-hp (280-kW).

The four-wheel-drive and seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission are standard across the board. The GTS comes with extra goodies like Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, adaptive air suspension with a bit lower ride height, and a 15% tougher suspension than the old GTS.

The elective sport package for the GTS encompasses performance-oriented features such as Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus as well as sport-design side mirrors, 21-inch GT design wheels with performance tires, 18-way sport seats, etc.

There isn’t much Porsche changed in the exterior. The changes include integrated air intakes, vents blended in the strip, bulging side blades, black diffuser, standard LED headlights, and seven wheel styles.

The tweaks inside are subtle as well. We are seeing an updated centre console, a shorter gear stalk, a new steering wheel, a 10.9-inch touchscreen, and an analogue clock. A range of driver-assist and safety systems including park assist, lane-keep assist, and others are there to make the journeys safe.

The 2022 Porsche Macan costs $54,900 at least, the Macan S goes for $65,400, while the top-of-the-line GTS starts at $79,000. These prices do not include $1,350 delivery charges. The 2022 Porsche Macan will hit the dealerships in early 2022.
