When Porsche fitted its tweaked twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter engine in the Cayenne Turbo GT, they made it the most powerful V8 vehicle they have ever produced. With a maximum of 631 ponies, the vehicle made a new SUV lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Behind the wheels was Porsche’s factory driver Lars Kern, who completed the 12.9 miles lap in 7:38.9. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT will go on sale early next year wearing a price tag of $180,800 (excluding the $1,350 destination fee).

The Cayenne Turbo GT is accessible in only Coupe body configuration. The power comes from Porsche’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 generating 631 horsepower (471 kilowatts) and 626 pound-feet (849 Newton-meters), which is 90 hp more than the regular Turbo Coupe but a little less than the Turbo S E-hybrid’s 670 horses. The engineers made changes to the V-8’s crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons; extended the turbos’ compressor wheels; and improved the fuel injection flow rate as well as the intake and cooling systems’ airflow to generate extra energy.

The eight-speed automatic transmission now changes gear swifter than before and the AWD’s transfer case gets water-cooling. The automaker says the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT can hit the 60 mph mark in only 3.1 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 186 mph.

Besides creating more horsepower and torque, the automaker lowered the suspension by 17 millimeters (0.7 inches) compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. The three-chamber air suspension is now 15 percent tougher, according to the chosen mode. Furthermore, the active suspension management, dynamic chassis control, and torque vectoring have also been updated.

The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT propels on the road with 22-inch wheels that are 1.0-inch wider on the front. The bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are specially created for the GT. The stopping power comes from the ceramic-composite brakes that are 440 millimeters (17.32 inches) in front and 410 millimeters (16.14 inches) at the back.

In terms of looks, the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT features bigger intakes on the sides and a more distinct lower lip. The roof, rear diffuser cover, and side plates for the rear wing are made of carbon fiber.

A couple of oval-shaped exhaust pipes are positioned in the middle below the bumper. The pipes are titanium and deficient of a center muffler, permitting it to shed about 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) compared to the other models.

This new Cayenne GT is the first vehicle to boast Porsche’s new infotainment system, now supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, Porsche’s eight-way sport front seats and two sports rear seats receive Turbo GT–detailed Alcantara inserts and Turbo GT calligraphy on the headrests. You can find either bronze or Arctic Grey sewing and a yellow strip at the 12 o’clock position on the steering wheel.

The customers can now order the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT and get it early next year. It is definitely costlier than its German rivals like the BMW X6 M and Mercedes AMG GLE 63S, but it is mightier.
