Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Marks The End of DBS Nameplate

Every great thing must reach its conclusion. This statement may be a well-worn phrase, but it perfectly describes the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate. This vehicle stands as the ultimate achievement in the current generation of DBS production, meaning it marks the end of its run. It’s uncertain if the DBS name will return with a pure V12 engine, but the 770 Ultimate leaves as the most powerful DBS ever created.

It’s not difficult to deduce the meaning behind the number 770. This is the measurement of the horsepower generated by its dual-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12, which translates to 759 horsepower for those using the imperial system. To achieve higher horsepower from Gaydon, one would have to rely on electrification, thus the DBS 770 Ultimate is truly deserving of its moniker.

The engine’s intake and ignition were expertly fine-tuned to boost pressure by 7%. Additional adjustments to the engine’s inner workings led to the final power output, which is powerful enough to propel the grand tourer to a top speed of 211 mph. The 8-speed automatic transmission was also precisely adjusted to enhance performance.

Enhancing the power often demands more robust braking systems, however, the factory-installed ceramic brakes on the DBS are already sufficient for the job. As a reminder, the front discs measure 16.1 inches in diameter, while the rear ones are 14.1 inches. The steering system was also improved, thanks to a new firm-mount steering column that enhances both accuracy and driver’s perception. The undercarriage is made slightly firmer, and Aston Martin claims the suspension has been specially calibrated to enhance “stability and poise without sacrificing comfort.”

The DBS 770 Ultimate boasts visually striking 21-inch wheels with a choice of three finishes. The hood features a new, unique “horse shoe” engine vent design. The front of the car includes a new splitter, and the car is accented with carbon fiber on the cantrail, windshield surround, mirror caps, and fender louvers. Moving towards the back of the car, you’ll find new carbon fiber sills, and a one-of-a-kind diffuser.

The interior boasts seats with the epitome of Sports Plus, dressed in a combination of luxurious quilted leather and Alcantara. A unique contrast trimming is only available in the 770 Ultimate, and to signify its exclusivity, the car features special emblems indicating its position in a limited run of 499 vehicles worldwide.

It’s worth noting that out of the 499 vehicles, only 300 are coupes and the rest are Volantes. Although the pricing has not been revealed by Aston Martin, it doesn’t matter as all of them have already been claimed. Production will commence in the latter part of the first quarter, and deliveries will be made during the summer.
