Which are the most reliable car brands in the new car market this year? Consumer Reports has conducted a study that reveals the top 10 most reliable car brands of 2020. Topping the podium are once again Japanese marquees; not one or two but three. In fact, out of the top five, four are Japanese. Let’s start from the least reliable to the most.

10. Dodge

Taking two steps down from the podium of last year, Dodge still has some very respected models in its lineup. The Charger and Challenger are getting better with each passing year. The Challenger got the highest marks in Dodge’s lineup.

09. Porsche

Porsche is hovering everywhere on the list of most reliable car brands. It received the fifth spot last year and was in the ninth position a year earlier. In 2020, it again dropped to ninth place. Consumer Reports only studied two models: the Cayenne and the Macan.

08. Subaru

Subaru dropped one spot taking the eight position this year. The main reason for this descend is the problems in the three-row Ascent. That said, other models like the BRZ did very well to allow the brand to stay in the top 10 list.

7. Ram

Ram has beaten Chevy for the accolade of second-best-selling truck in America. The trucks are not only selling well but are also reliable thanks to the Ram 1500’s reputation. These are not only fun to drive but are also comfortable and entertaining. The Ram 1500 TRX is also here to satisfy the needs of off-road enthusiasts.

06. Hyundai

Hyundai has been focusing hard on its value and dependability with the Kona being the most reliable. The all-new Elantra and Tucson might change the game for the automaker next year.

05. Honda

Honda finally returned to the top 10 most reliable car brands list after some years thanks to the Odyssey and Passport, which are now balanced out. With the new-generation Civic coming next year, we hope to see Honda hold its position in the 2021 list.

04. Buick

Buick surprised everyone when it jumped 14 spots: from 18th to 4th this year. Consumer Reports says they did it for the small lineup with very few issues.

03. Lexus

Lexus is a known name in the most reliable car brands arena. It is always there because of its tried-and-true platforms and extravagant amenities. It got 71 out of 100 on CR’s scale this year, which is 50% to 100% higher on average compared to other brands thanks to the new LC Convertible and IS sport sedan.

02. Toyota

Although Toyota jumped just one spot from the last year, the achievement is worth celebrating for a brand that has a huge lineup. The best among all are the Prius and Corolla with 93 and 90 scores, respectively.

01. Mazda

Mazda has stunned us this year by taking the top spot in the most reliable car brands of 2020 thanks to the new MX-5 Miata with a score of 98 out of 100. That’s very impressive in an increasingly shacked-up industry. The CX-30 is the second-best-ranked with a score of 95.
