Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Returns For The 2023 Model Year

Dodge will have to transition to all-electric propulsion, but the thunderous Hellcat V8 will not sleep quietly anytime soon. The automaker is bringing back the Durango SRT Hellcat for the 2023 model year, featuring the 710-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi powerplant. It is the same mill we witnessed for the 2021 model year.

That would make the three-row SUV as quick as it was before. It means the 2023 Durango SRT Hellcat can hit 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. Keep pushing the throttle, and the muscle SUV will complete the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds.

Astonishingly, these performance figures aren’t far behind the Charger and the Challenger with Hellcat. However, the maximum speed of 180 mph isn’t mind-boggling and stays behind the other super SUVs in the segment. That said, the 710 horsepower Hellcat engine still makes the Durango SRT Hellcat the most robust combustion-powered, factory-stock utility vehicle in the market.

Dodge made the Durango SRT Hellcat for performance-hungry buyers. While it was just planned for 2021, the company had to extend production due to high demand. The return of the performance SUV model means the demand is still strong.

“The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has generated a crazy amount of enthusiasm and demand since it was introduced in 2020 – we even extended its initial production run – so it seemed appropriate to bring back the most powerful SUV ever as part of our historic 2023 model-year Dodge lineup,” stated Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. “Muscle enthusiasts also have families, and the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat can get those families where they want to go and has the ability to tow 8,700 pounds.”

Regarding the design changes, we cannot find any in the images. It seems the images of the 2023 model year are a ditto copy of the ones from 2021. Naturally, the exterior changes weren’t needed for a super SUV that is too good at what it does.

With even no design changes, we suspect the price will remain the same. It will be a little higher than the 2021 model year, which was being sold at $82,000, without any additional accessories. The true price of the new 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will be available in September, which is when interested customers can order. If there are no delays, we hope to see the performance Durango at dealerships early next year.

For comparison, we can tell that the 2022 Durango starts at AED 134,900.
