Dodge Revealed First “Last Call” Special Edition, the Challenger Shakedown

The V8-powered Dodge Charger and Challenger are going to die soon, unfortunately. To bid farewell to these iconic nameplates, Dodge came up with an idea. The company is offering Last Call Special Edition trim levels for both the nameplates before they become a part of the history books.

The first of the seven trim levels in the Last Call special edition is the 2023 Challenger Shakedown which comes with purely aesthetic changes. The muscle car takes cues from the 1971 Shakedown Challenger concept car, which was displayed at the 2016 SEMA show. Seeing both cars side by side, we can clearly see the resemblance through back-and-red stripes that travel from the hood to the trunk.

Logically, the special edition Challenger has a shaker hood with a deep shaker intake. We can also see the red 392 graphics on the fenders and unique Challenger and R/T emblems in the grille. The red six-piston Brembo brakes are visible behind the 20-inch wheels, and there is more red & black trim inside. Of course, the Shakedown symbol is also noticeable in the cabin in different places.

The company plans to develop 1,000 units of this Last Call Special Edition, half of which will be R/T Scat Pack sporting Destroyer Grey with Low Gloss Black Slingshot wheels. The other half will be the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody with Carbon Black Warp Speed wheels.

We do not know about the pricing details yet, but we do know these cars will hit the roads in spring next year.

Dodge revealed the Last Call Special Edition models during Speed Week and told the media that all of them will get unique Last Call panels under the bonnet.

Dodge will conclude the development of both the Charger and the Challenger in December this year and focus primarily on its new compact Crossover, Hornet.

The company has also validated that the new Challengers and Chargers will get a full electric shock in the future. We have already got a taste of it through the introduction of the Charger Daytona SRT Concept EV.

Dodge will reveal the next Last Call special edition on August 31. Stay tuned as we bring you more on the new limited edition trim levels.
