Ferrari Portofino M Comes with Extra Power And New Transmission

Just after three years of Portofino’s creation, Ferrari has updated it with more power and a newly formed eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Named the Ferrari Portofino M (Modificata), it is the first convertible from the automaker that employs eight-speed gearbox featuring a 20% smaller clutch unit and 35% better torque distribution compared to the previous gearbox. The Roma – Portofino coupe model – also uses the same transmission.

Replacing the transmission also comes with higher engine output. The twin-turbo 3.9L V8 now pumps out 20 hp extra in the Portofino M (Modificata), thus making 612 horsepower (456 kilowatts) and 561 pound-feet (760 Newton-meters) in total.

The new Ferrari Portofino M takes just 3.45 seconds to hit 100 km/h speed from zero on its way to 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds. The top speed is limited to 320 km/h. Compared to the non-M model, it is 0.05 seconds and 1.0 second quicker to 100 km/h and 200 km/h, respectively.

Besides, mechanical changes, Ferrari has also upgraded the interior “focusing mainly on maximizing driving pleasure and fun behind the wheel.”

The introduction of the Portofino M will be followed by another Ferrari, details of which are still a mystery. Our good guess is an upgraded version of the 812 Superfast.

The pricing details aren’t revealed yet; however, for reference, we can tell that the 2020 Portofino starts at AED 852,000.
