Ford Mustang Mach-E EPA Range Comparison With Rivals

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is going to hit the dealerships in the coming few weeks and we now have the official EPA range numbers, which are very close to what the brand calculated in the first place. The Mach-E featuring the biggest 98.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack and rear-wheel drive will be able to deliver 300 miles per charge, as per the calculation of the EPA. Moreover, the base model is equally efficient.

The Mustang Mach-E carrying the 75.7-kilowatt-hour standard-range battery pack offers 230 miles of range with rear-wheel drive. Opt for the all-wheel-drive and the number should obviously drop; you get 211 miles of range with AWD. The same goes for the extended-range battery with AWD. Compared to 300 miles of RWD, the AWD variant renders 270 miles.

We are not complaining here, since these numbers are excellent compared to the Mach-E’s competitors including Jaguar I-Pace, Kia Niro EV, Chevrolet Bolt, and others. However, the new Tesla Model Y (326 miles) and Tesla Model 3 (353 miles) are clearly the winners in this segment.

  Maximum Range
Audi E-Tron 218 Miles
Nissan Leaf 226 Miles
Jaguar I-Pace 234 Miles
Kia Niro EV 239 Miles
Hyundai Kona Electric 258 Miles
Chevrolet Bolt 259 Miles
Ford Mustang Mach-E 300 Miles
Tesla Model Y 326 Miles
Tesla Model 3 353 Miles

“This validation by the EPA comes at a perfect time as the Mustang Mach-E is gearing up to take on the open road,” remarks Darren Palmer, global director of battery electric vehicles for Ford.

Do not forget, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is still a Mustang, so you should expect lots of power and thrill behind the wheels.

The standard Mach-E with either RWD or AWD would be able to generate at least 255 horsepower (190 kilowatts). Add a bigger battery in the RWD model and the power jumps to 282 hp (210 kW). Expect the Extended-Range Mach-E with AWD to yield 332 hp (248 kW). The most powerful of all is the range-topping Mach-E GT; it pumps out 459 hp (342 kW). Unfortunately, the range estimates for the GT aren’t revealed yet.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available for pre-order across the US. The deliveries will start in the following weeks. Ford did not reveal yet when do they plan to offer the electric Mustang in the UAE.

However, before they announce this potent electric crossover in the United Arab Emirates, we want to tell you the price you should expect. The base Mach-E Select with RWD will start at $42,895. Add the all-wheel-drive and the model goes for $45,595.

The First Edition model is the most expensive of all, at the moment. It will set you back $58,300. If you love to push the pedal harder to achieve quick acceleration and fastest runs and can wait until 2021, we suggest you save $60,000 for the Mach-E GT.
