Lotus has introduced the new Lotus Exige Sport 350 by applying its successful formula of combining simplicity with light weight. The model weighs around 2,480 pounds which promises more speed and better dynamics resulting in overall enhanced performance.

The Lotus Exige Sport 350 was put through Lotus’s Lightweight Factory where it was made 112 pounds lighter than Lotus Exige S. The engineers achieved this feat by equipping this car with lighter battery, engine mounts and centre console. The sound insulation has been revamped along with new louvered rear tailgate panel.

With the power output of 345 hp, the Lotus Exige Sport 350 equipped with 3.5 Litre turbocharged V6 engine can achieve an acceleration of 0-62 mph in mere 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph. An upgraded six speed manual transmission with forged aluminium paddles has been installed behind the steering wheel providing power to the rear wheels. An automatic transmission variant is also available with an additional weight of 12 pounds which however has very minute effect on the overall performance. The interior cabin offers a choice between leather and the Tartan theme which fits as a perfect tribute to Lotus Esprit S1 introduced back in 1976.

The interested buyers in the US may be disappointed since the Lotus Exige Sport 350 is only available for the European markets and the deliveries are expected to commence by February 2016. Let’s see if Lotus will be able to live up to strict safety regulations and make a startling appearance back in the US markets.
