While the third-generation Mazda6 was discontinued in North America last year, it is a popular model in some other parts of the world. To commemorate Mazda6’s 20 years of existence, the automaker has introduced the 20th Anniversary Edition. With 2022 going to end soon, this certainly looks like one of the most pleasing cars from the automaker.

Debuted for Japan and Australian markets, the Mazda6 20th Anniversary Edition comes in sedan and wagon layouts, both sporting Artisan Red or Rhodium White as well as 19-inch glossy silver wheels. Additionally, we can see fender badges and a bright silver accent on the grille.

To denote the vehicle’s special status, the 20th Anniversary logo is engraved on the front headrests. In addition, tan Nappa leather and matte brown trim enhance the interior’s appeal. You would also appreciate the electric sliding sunroof as well as the infotainment, which is a carryover from the previous model.

The mill options are slightly different for Japan and Australia. For Down Under, the vehicle gets a 2.5-litre petrol generating 235 horsepower (173 kilowatts) at 4,250 rpm and 420 Newton-meters (310 pound-feet) at 2,000 rpm. Going all the way to 4,250 rpm, the midsize Mazda delivers an additional 8 Nm (6 lb-ft). The six-speed auto gearbox also gets a treatment for faster gear changes and improved pedal response.

The Japanese customers will get a 2.2-litre turbodiesel offering 200 hp (147 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) at 2,000 rpm.

Expect the Mazda6 20th Anniversary Edition to hit roads in Australia next year, with pricing information to be revealed later. On the other hand, the Japanese model will be available at the end of this year for a starting price of ¥4,422,000 (front-wheel-drive) and ¥4,662,900 for the all-wheel-drive variant. At the present rates, the price in US dollars is $32,400 and $34,200, respectively.

Mazda didn’t reveal yet whether it will be available for the Gulf markets or not.
