The next generation 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been refreshed with new styling and latest powrtrains bringing a slight price bump. GM has set the base price at $24,475 (including freight), which is $480 more than the outgoing model.

The crossover sports a split radiator grille and thinner swept headlights bringing the new Equinox in-line with the automaker’s new design language. Additionally, the automaker worked on reducing the weight and has been successful shedding 400 pounds. However, this also resulted in a shorter wheelbase.

The weight saving also inspired lighter engines ditching the naturally-aspirated mills. The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox houses a 1.5-liter engine with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. Another option includes a 2.0-liter mill that yields 252 ponies and 260 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, customers in the US will benefit from a 2.0-liter turbodiesel powertrain good for 136 ponies and 236 lb-ft of torque. The diesel would be highly fuel efficient with 40 mpg highway rating.

The automaker is yet to reveal the price of the diesel and other variants of the Equinox. The deliveries will start in Spring of next year. We won’t see it officially here in the UAE as there are other similar crossovers already serving the purpose.
