The Lexus UX 300e is the luxury brand’s first EV, which came in 2019. The subcompact crossover also has a combustion engine model, which got a refresh in May 2022, and now the company has updated the electric model as well.

Similar to the petrol-powered model, the zero-emission UX 300e  comes with enhanced body rigidity as Lexus added 20 touch welding points on the side and rear doors. The EV even has a new battery pack.

The previous 54.4-kWh battery is replaced by a significantly bigger 72.8-kWh battery delivering 40 per cent more range than the 2022 UX 300e. The automaker says the new 2022 Lexus UX 300e can cover over 450 kilometres (280 miles) between charges, as per the WLTC cycle for Europe. As a reminder, the previous model offered 400 km (250 miles), according to the NEDC cycle.

The 2023 UX 300e adds Yamaha rear performance dampers and a tweaked electric power steering as well as modified shock absorbers. The design changes are the same as we find on the ICE UX 300.

The electric crossover carries the same old motor producing 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) and 300 Newton-metres (221 pound-feet) of torque, powering the front wheels. The EV weighs about 1,900 kilograms (nearly 4,200 pounds).

The interior changes include new Lexus’ new infotainment system with a 12.3-inch display offering sharp graphics, two USB-C ports, a vertically extended wireless charging pad, and LED ambient lighting. Lexus says the new UX 300e curbs the road noises better, and the battery pack also plays an important role in that.

The 2023 Lexus UX 300e will be available in Europe next spring.
