Volvo XC40 EV Debuting on October 16

Volvo revealed some details of its battery-powered XC40 recently and verified their plans to introduce it for the public on October 16. The Volvo XC40 EV will be an all-wheel-drive featuring an electric motor on each axle for an ultimate driving experience. The automaker says it will be able to deliver 402 km on a single charge (non-EPA standard). We also heard rumors to see more than one battery choices to cater to the needs of varied customers.

The compact SUV doesn’t have a dedicated EV platform and will modify its standard CMA platform to create this electric vehicle. It will also reportedly boast advanced electronic driver assist facilities created by Zenuity, which is a subsidy of the Swedish automaker.

After Volvo develops this vehicle, they have plans to create an electric model for each of its nameplates.

The automaker is going to build their first EV in China. This action totally makes sense since China is world’s biggest EV market. Do not get us wrong; the Volvo XC40 EV may not sell like hotcakes here because the Chinese government has already cut back EV incentives and this isn’t good for consumers looking to buy an electric car.

Volvo didn’t say a word about EV’s pricing. However, we know it will be a lot higher than the standard 2019 XC40, which sells at AED 166,500.

For more details about the XC40 electric vehicle, stay tuned!
