The Volvo XC90 T8 was already equipped with a phenomenal gasoline electric powertrain mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission system that offered 400 horsepower, but the automaker’s performance division Polestar thought it wasn’t enough. They have introduced an ‘optimization package’ that adds extra power, making it the most powerful Volvo ever. The Polestar tuned Volvo XC90 T8 Optimization Package produces a total 421 horsepower and an estimated 502 lb-ft of torque.
The automaker states that the Volvo XC90 T8 Optimization Package does not only offer more power, but also enhances throttle response and extends a new gear-hold function for swift gear shifting. These upgrades do not affect the Volvo’s fuel economy or electric drive range. The SUV will offer the same combined EPA rating of 53 MPG.
The pricing details for the Volvo XC90 T8 Optimization Package have not been announced yet. It will soon be revealed prior to its launch in October.
